Our Analysis and Test Results
One thing we really appreciate about the INIU Portable Charger 10000 is that its USB-C port isn't just for recharging the battery; it can also double as an output port. Even better, this output can source up to 3 amps to quickly charge your devices.
Performance Comparison
Charging Efficiency
After rating and scoring the portability of each charger, we assessed the charging capacity and efficiency of each product. We looked at how well each device stacked up against the manufacturer's claims regarding the number of charges for a specific device. We also assessed the capacity of each battery when discharged through our multimeter with a variable simulated load set for a high current draw. The INIU 10000 again scored well in this metric, landing just above the average in the lineup.
We were able to pull approximately 82% of the stated capacity from this battery with the simulated load set to 2.4 amps. While this might not seem too impressive, we have generally found that most batteries have a much lower capacity than claimed when subjected to higher discharge rates.
When it comes to matching the manufacturer's claims, we found this battery to be dead-on. INIU states that it should be able to charge a Samsung S8 smartphone 2.3 times, and we were able to charge this phone 2.29 times before the battery was fully depleted.
Added Convenience
For our added convenience metric, we awarded points based on the different features that made these products more convenient to use. Specifically, we focused on whether the battery can charge multiple devices at once and whether there are any bonus features, like a built-in flashlight, integrated device charging cables, or a wall plug built into the portable charger for recharging. The INIU continued to impress, meriting it an above-average score.
This battery can charge up to three devices simultaneously using its pair of USB-A outputs and its combination USB-C input/output. It also has an integrated flashlight, which is a nice bonus. However, it doesn't have any integrated cables or a plug for recharging, so you will need to make sure you don't forget the specific cables for your device when packing this charger.
Portability
Our initial series of portable charger evaluations focused on their physical characteristics to determine the ease of portability. We measured the dimensions and weight of each battery pack and compared them, as well as having a variety of different judges rate how comfortable and noticeable it is to carry around each product in a front or back pocket. The INIU did very well in this set of tests, earning a solid score.
While this is one of the larger capacity portable chargers, we like that it's on the lighter side, weighing a mere 6.88 ounces — which is less than the average weight of products in our review lineup.
This portable charger is also quite compact, measuring only 0.6 inches thick, with a footprint of 5.19 inches by 2.75 inches. This slim profile makes it one of the more comfortable options to carry around in a front or back pocket, and easy to toss in a bag. We wouldn't necessarily want to sit down with it in our pocket for an extended period of time but had no issues for short stints of sitting. The size and bulk of this charger are similar to that of a typical modern smartphone.
Recharge Time
In our final performance metric, we measured and compared the recharge time for each battery pack. Scores were based solely on the time we recorded for each battery to fully recharge when completely depleted. Although the INIU had excelled in our previous testing, this is where it struggled.
We found it took about five hours for this battery to fully recharge — taking more time than our line-up average. Our results showed a wide range of results, and some devices actually took almost half the time of the INIU. So, if you intend to use this in back-to-back sittings, this may be a concern as you'll be antsy for it to recharge, but if you know that most of your charging time will be overnight or single use, then there should be no worries.
Should You Buy the INIU Portable Charger 10000?
The INIU Portable Charger 10000 is a solid all-around battery pack for anyone looking for a convenient, efficient, and highly usable option that can handle two to three smartphone charges. It's highly portable and easy to use, all while recharging fairly quickly. We definitely think it should make your shortlist and highly recommend it.
