Jason grew up outside of San Francisco, CA playing in the redwood forests on mountain bikes and exploring the deserts through rock climbing. He found his love of photography through those adventures and that led him to Santa Barbra, CA to attend Brooks Institute of Photography. After his time at brooks, he made his way south again to work in the photography industry in Los Angeles. Where he worked as a lighting tech and troubleshooting cameras under the stress of big budgets and tight deadlines. Through this work, Jason developed an eye for detail and a mindset for troubleshooting that has translated well to reviewing and photographing gear. Jason now calls South Lake Tahoe home and when he's not in the GearLab offices, in the mornings and evenings he's chasing light. When that light turns bad, he'll be climbing at the crag, carving turns on the ski hill or behind the handlebars of a mountain bike.
