Our Analysis and Test Results
When it comes to robot vacuums, the Samsung Jet Bot AI+ is an above-average performer that gave the top-rated models a run for their money. Unfortunately, it never outshined the competition in any specific metric. If you are curious about those models, you can see how well the AI+ performed against them in our best robot vacuums review.
Performance Comparison
After a considerable amount of research, our team purchased the most highly rated robots, then rated and scored their performances in a set of head-to-head challenges to assess their qualities. The performance of the Samsung Jet Bot AI+ across those challenges is broken down below, split into six rating metrics, each weighted based on their overall significance.
Navigation
In our first and most heavily weighted metric, navigation, the Samsung Jet Bot AI+ was near the top of the test group. Firstly, the AI+ tackled furniture better than most robots we tested.
We found the ability to navigate around the furniture to be generally good. While the AI+ did have some occasional bumps into obstacles, it didn't have to collide with objects to sense them; instead, it more often utilized recognition in sensing and software.
The Jet Bot AI+ did an excellent job at poo-avoidance and docking efficiently. For our simulated pet poop challenge, the AI+ recognized both the small and large simulated poops and avoided them entirely. In addition to excellent poo-avoidance, the AI+ navigates to its docking station efficiently, avoiding all obstacles along the way.
Home Coverage
The Samsung Jet Bot AI+ does a good but not great job of thoroughly covering an entire room, missing a few spots during testing, including a corner. While it got close to edges in our home coverage and edging tests, the AI+ did a marginal job cleaning.
Carpet Cleaning
On our fourth test metric, carpet cleaning, the Samsung Jet Bot AI+ did a surprisingly mediocre job for an otherwise impressive machine. It pushed rice grains around on the low-pile carpet. Instead of picking up the rice grains, it worked them deeper into the high-pile carpet. Instead of cleaning oatmeal, it displaced and sprayed them all around. It repeated the same behavior on high-pile carpet, sometimes grinding the debris instead of picking it up.
Fortunately, the Jet Bot AI+ managed to do a great job picking up flour from carpet, only leaving a fine residue behind. Its great performance cleaning flour helped its average score on the carpet cleaning test metric from being absolutely dismal, but the AI+ proved it is not the strongest carpet cleaner of the bunch.
Hard Surface Cleaning
In stark contrast to its carpet cleaning performance, the Samsung Jet Bot AI+ did an exceptional job cleaning hard surfaces. No other robots matched a perfect performance picking up rice, and only one other model we tested matched its near-perfect performance cleaning oatmeal. The Jet Bot also consistently picks up flour on all kinds of surfaces.
While the AI+ did great in three of our four hard surface cleaning tests, it did not do as well on our cereal cleaning test, and like many models, was unable to clean cereal from a hard surface.
Pet Hair
Unfortunately for pet owners who love Samsung products, the Jet Bot AI+ is not going to be your go-to tool for cleaning pet hair. Or if it is, prepare to be disappointed, because the AI+ picked up less than 10% of the pet hair used in our controlled tests. This earned it one of the lowest performances in our test lineup.
Convenience
Samsung does not include a physical remote with the Jet Bot AI+. Everything is run through the app, which has mostly excellent software but lacks specific spot cleaning, favoring zone designation instead. The app also lacks accessory life tracking, AKA maintenance tracking, although it does provide some notifications for when it needs its disposal system emptied.
The docking station is also exceptional, improving its convenience performance due to its large dust capacity at 2.4L. The dust removal system is one of the few bagged systems available today.
Should You Buy the Samsung Jet Bot AI+?
While the Samsung Jet Bot AI+ is a good if not great robot vacuum, especially on hard surfaces, it is also a little pricey. Other models perform better at a lower price. However, this model is still worth considering if you are primarily interested in a bagged system and great poo-avoidance.
What Other Robot Vacuums Should You Consider?
If an overall balance of great performance and price is what you are looking for, then consider the incredible Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid. Or, for the most intelligent robot on the market today, consider the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra.
