Our Verdict

The Q Slim Power Bank Pro 10000 mAh is a great power bank if you want to reduce the clutter of carrying long cables. This model not only has an integrated wall plug for recharging, but it also has a complete set of integrated cables — USB-C, Lightning, and Micro-USB. It's fairly portable and scored well in our capacity tests, but the battery itself takes quite a long time to recharge. However, we highly recommend it to anyone who doesn't want the hassle of keeping track of multiple cables with your portable battery and never wants to be caught without one.

Our Analysis and Test Results

This charger scored close to the top of the group overall but really distinguished itself by its exceptional convenience factor. It's one of the first we have seen that includes the full trio of integrated charging cables, in addition to the integrated 120-volt wall plug for recharging the battery itself. These combine to make the Q Slim exceptionally handy, as you can just throw it in your bag for an all-in-one charging solution without a convoluted clutter of cables to go with it.

Portability

As it's in the name of this category of products — portable chargers — it's easy to see why portability is our most important metric overall, which accounts for 40% of the total score. In this metric, we rated and compared how easily each charger fit in a pocket, as well as its size and weight. The Q Slim isn't the most compact battery we have seen, but it is still quite easy to carry around.

Roughly average in volume, this charger occupies a footprint of 6.3 inches long by 3 inches wide by 0.63 inches thick. The Slim Q also isn't overly heavy, tipping the scales at just over half of a pound.

Though it has a longer profile than some, it's still fairly comfortable to carry around in your pocket, feeling astonishingly similar to one of the larger smartphone models. It's hardly noticeable while sitting if it's in a back pocket and it isn't overly uncomfortable in the front pocket of a pair of pants. Basically, it fits just about anywhere a smartphone does.

Charging Efficiency

When rating and comparing the capacity and efficiency of each battery pack, we found out that the stated capacity didn't always seem to be correct when subjected to our real-world testing conditions. For this test, we used a dummy load resistor and digital multimeter to pull power from the battery at the maximum rate that it would support, then calculated the actual milliamp-hours we were able to extract. We then dropped the dummy load to a one amp draw to see if we could get any additional power out of them. Additionally, we also truth-tested any manufacturer claims about the number of complete charges you could get from the battery for specific devices. The Q Slim Power Bank Pro did slightly above average in this pair of tests, which constitute 30% of its final score.

The Q Slim has a maximum power output of 2.1 amps, and we were able to pull 6,595 milliamp-hours out of this portable power pack before it called it quits, or around 66% of its stated capacity. We got a little more juice out of it when we dropped the power draw to one amp — about 424 more milliamp-hours — before the Q Slim completely died.

The manufacturer of this power pack claims that it can charge most phones 2.4-4 times, which we found to be an exaggeration. In our tests, this phone charged a Samsung Galaxy S8 2.27 times before dying. It might make it for four full charges on older and smaller smartphones, but we would guess that you can't count on much more than two full charges with a newer phone.

Added Convenience

The Q Slim 10000 mAh did extremely well in our third metric — Added Convenience — which comprises 20% of its total score. It earned a top score for its phenomenal performance in this group of tests, which cover the different features and functions that make this power pack simpler and easier to use.

As mentioned above, this portable power bank has three different integrated device charging cables — a micro-USB, an Apple Lightning, and a USB-C.

It also has a fold-out, 120-volt wall plug for recharging the power bank, though you can also use a separate USB wall adapter and a micro-USB cable if you prefer.

It can charge multiple devices at the same time but has a maximum shared power output of 2.1 amps, so you won't be able to fast charge two smartphones simultaneously, nor a tablet and smartphone. It has the standard four LED battery level indicator as well.

Unfortunately, this battery pack lacks an integrated flashlight, and as far as we can tell, there is no warranty from the manufacturer. However, it's not terribly expensive if you end up needing to replace it, or you can always purchase it from a third-party retailer that offers their own warranty.

Recharge Time

Regrettably, the Q Slim finished with a relatively lackluster showing in our fourth and final testing metric. This score is based on how long it took for the Q Slim Power Bank Pro to recharge completely, accounting for the remaining 10% of its final score.

This battery has one of the longest claimed recharge times of the entire group, with its manual stating that it takes around eight hours to completely recharge. However, we found that it took even longer, charging completely in just under 10 hours in our test.

Should You Buy the Q Slim Power Bank Pro 10000 mAh?

If you seek convenience above all else, you should definitely check out the Q Slim Power Bank Pro. Its trio of integrated cables means that you will always have the right cable on hand and don't have to fiddle with a mess of cords — but note that you won't be able to fast charge multiple devices simultaneously. Additionally, this battery takes an exceptionally long time to recharge using the integrated wall plug.

What Other Portable Chargers Should You Consider?

iPhone users seeking exceptional portability and convenience should check out the Clutch Charger, which is super lightweight and thin and includes a built-in lightning cable. If you're looking for a bargain, consider the 2-Pack Miady 10000, an affordable two-pack of chargers. We also love the simple and exceptionally portable Anker PowerCore 5000.
