It has a detachable tank, hose, and a myriad of accessories, including multiple sizes of cleaning heads, a squeegee, a grout cleaner, a precision power nozzle, and a microfiber cloth.
Performance Comparison
Cleaning Performance
We have tested a number of steam mops from Bissell over the years, and the PowerFresh Lift-Off Pet does not disappoint. On tile and textured flooring, this mop glides easily over the surface, never getting caught up even on deep grout grooves. It comes with two pads that are both thick and do an excellent job cleaning. The softer pad is great for everyday use, sliding evenly over floors. The other is more textured, featuring a zig-zag pattern that gently scrubs the floor even without the use of a brush. Compared to other mop pads, these are some of the most effective ones we've ever had the pleasure of using.
When faced with stubborn stains and packed on dirt, the Lift-Off rises to the challenge. A host of attachments help you scrub just about anything, from getting after the grout to steaming the walls of your shower. It has fantastic steam pressure and even several scraping attachments for really serious messes. In mop mode, a step-down scrubber lets you quickly attack small areas that need just a bit of extra elbow grease to come clean. If you have large floors that need scrubbing, this method isn't the best. It works perfectly for spot cleaning, but standing on one leg while using the other foot to press a scrubby brush down can only help you cover so much surface area. Switching between the mop function and attachments takes some time, but the Lift-Off Pet does a great job of getting things clean in either configuration.
Ease of Use
Though the 399ml tank has a narrow 0.75-inch opening and Is on the small end of steam mops we tested, there are plenty of other features to make up for this. That small side opening on the tank is much easier to fill than many, as the tank lifts off the rest of the mop — no more trying to hold your mop over your sink or pour water into it with a measuring cup (though it does come with one if you prefer that method). The tank is also clear, making it very easy to watch your water level and top off whenever you're running low. Like most models we tested, the Lift-Off Pet heats up in about a minute and is easily operated by pictorial buttons.
The Lift-Off Pet feels quite solid and sturdy and reliably stands up on its own. This is an important feature, allowing you to lift away the tank whenever and wherever you need, without worrying that the whole thing will come crashing down. It also comes in handy for closet storage. The unit maneuvers easily without feeling loose. The two included mop pads attach using elastic and are quite easy to change when needed. Both the softer and textured pads are thick and well made, easily withstanding getting thrown through the washing machine or squeezed by hand in the sink.
Maneuverability
We can't find anything to complain about when it comes to the ability of the Lift-Off to glide flawlessly over every type of flooring we tested. Only the roughest of surfaces gave this model any pause. In so many situations, the mop pads continued to impress us by how well they can glide and clean over even textured tile, which is typically challenging to mop well. A 25-foot cord gives you plenty of space to clean around your home without needing to relocate to a new wall plug.
Both elastic-attached pads fully cover the edges of the mop head, effectively sanitizing and wiping all the way up the baseboards and into the corners. The dual-directional pivoting neck allows you to turn the whole thing sideways to slide into narrow spaces between appliances or furniture without being so loose and floppy that it's hard to control. The only downside to doing this is that the back edge of the mop head is bowed outward rather than flat. It's not impossible to clean right up to the edges with this, but it does take some finesse and practice.
Features
It's tough to beat the PowerFresh Lift-Off Pet when it comes to accessories. This steam mop is part of one of the most inclusive packages of any model we've ever tested. It includes a litany of attachments that fit on the end of the hose as the tank is detached, helping you clean far beyond the floors. Some of our favorites include the grout tool and medium cleaning head for tackling the shower. It also comes with precision tools, scrapers, a squeegee, and so much more.
Our only complaint about this flock of helpful tools is that it's not the easiest to switch between them. Using any of the attachments requires pulling the tank off the mop handle, attaching the hose, and then choosing your weapon of choice. Of course, once you're set up, it's easy to clean pretty much any steam-friendly surface you can reach. There are also two adjustable steam settings to help you get any done done.
Value
We expected this cleaning package to cost more than it does for all the attachments, options, ease of use, and cleaning prowess it offers. Not that it's the cheapest option out there, but for all the things it includes and the variety of things you can clean with it, the Lift-Off Pet is a great value bundle.
Conclusion
If you're here for a simple floor cleaning option, the Bissell PowerFresh Lift-Off Pet can do that — and so much more. This attachment-happy collection of cleaning implements offers a host of options for cleaning tons of spaces and objects all around your home. It does the job well and for a more affordable price than you may think, making it one of our favorite all-around cleaning tools to keep on hand.
