Nick has been balancing athletic and academic pursuits for most of his life. As a walk-on to the track and cross country teams at Purdue University, he raced in the NCAA for four seasons while also earning a B.S. Degree from the Civil Engineering program in 2005. Nick started helping the GearLab team in early 2019 after gaining over a decade of professional engineering experience on a variety of land development, hydrology modeling, and floodplain mapping projects for both government agencies and private organizations. Today, he balances his professional life with running, hiking, biking, skiing, climbing, and paddling with his wife Shannon and their Weimaraner Nala. His favorite adventures from the last few years include trekking in Nepal, skiing in Alaska, and paddleboarding in the Indian Ocean. As an analytical consumer himself, Nick is able to blend his scientific knowledge with consumer savviness and empathy in his GearLab projects.
