A data nerd and adventurer all in one, Hale has a jack of all trades approach to his hobbies - always trying something new. He has lived in multiple states and picked up new hobbies in each. Georgia brought fitness, Hawaii brought hiking and scuba diving, Washington introduced backpacking and sailing, and Pennsylvania sparked rock climbing and DIY home projects. It's safe to say that Hale is a clinically diagnosed gear junkie. He loves finding new pieces of gear to add to his collection, whether for the home, office, or his next adventure.
Hale graduated from Ohio State University and served as an Infantry Officer in the US Army. After his time in the service, Hale earned an MBA and proceeded to work in technology & management consulting, honing a skill set of physical and mental toughness balanced with strategic and analytical thinking. Hale's journey to GearLab began as a reader, avidly scouring review after review to help outfit an extended backpacking trip in Patagonia. Falling in love with the meticulous analysis and evaluations prompted him to join the team. Hale brings his background in data-driven analytics and love for technology and the outdoors to life at GearLab. He enjoys helping evaluate and review new products and technologies that will make your home better.
When he's not in front of a computer, you can find Hale pursuing his plethora of passions: climbing, fitness, home projects, snowboarding, or simply playing frisbee with his two Weimaraner dogs.
