Performance Comparison

Sound Quality

Our listening panel found that the voicemails left by the TGE232B had good quality, and a nice listening volume, but there was a non trivial amount of static that our top scoring phones lacked.

Range

This model gave an average performance in our range test, earning a 5 out of 10. It gave a sub par performance in our open range test, topping out at 725', over a 100' shorter than our top scorers. However, this model pleasantly surprised us with how well it performed on our obstructed range test, remaining understandable at 270' away from its base and passing through several walls.

Ease of Use

This model scored above average when it came to ease of use, scoring a 6 out of 10. We found that this phone did have a particularly well-lit keypad, as well as an easily readable screen, remaining clear at 6'.

This phone does not have a link-to-cell feature, but does have a built in answering machine.

Features

This phone scored well, earning a 7 out of 10 when it came to features. This type of phone can handle up to 6 handsets, but does not have a keypad or speaker on the base. It does have a headset jack and belt clip, as well as the ability to work as an intercom system.

Battery Life

The TGE232B lasted for 13 hours and 9 minutes in our talk time test, earning it a 7 out of 10 on this rating metric. The handset gave a low battery warning at 12 hours and 10 minutes. The handsets take about 7 hours to charge from a completely dead battery to full.

Value

This phone doesn't have an exceptional value, as there are other models available that cost less and scored significantly better.

Conclusion

This phone doesn't really stand out against the competition in any metric, and is a little on the pricey side for its performance in our tests. This phone does have one attribute that may interest you: This model has the best display for operating in a dark environment, and is one of the easiest to read, so someone who is a little hard of sight may prefer this phone over other models.
