Our Verdict

The Hamilton Beach 41020 is Discontinued as of December 2019

If you have more than one person planning on using your electric kettle, then the Hamilton Beach 41020 is for you. It has seven pre-set temperature buttons, automatic shut off as well as temperature holding, so consecutive users will find their water ready to go when they need it. Moreover, at 1.7L, this machine has one of the largest internal volumes in the class.

Our Analysis and Test Results

The Hamilton Beach 41020 is an excellent product for general purpose, rapid hot water heating. The six preset temperature controls are conveniently located on the handle for easy thumb depression. The wide pitcher-style spout is decent at controlled pouring but facilitates fast pouring as well. The large capacity and temperature holding function makes it great for multiple users as it will require less frequent filling and reheating.

Boil Time

As part of our side-by-side kettle analysis, we recorded the time it takes each machine to boil four cups of 57° F water. Surprisingly, there is a spread of approximately three minutes between the various models here reviewed. At a mere four minutes, the Hamilton Beach boils rapidly and is among the fastest in the class.

While the Hamilton Beach 41020 has a pitcher-style spout, it is pretty good at executing slow, steady pours. We don't want to give the wrong impression, this machine is a far cry from the precision pouring made possible by purpose-built gooseneck models. However, this is the best pouring machine among kettles with a similar design.

Value is often in the eye of the beholder. If a product serves its purpose and makes the user's life a little easier, then it will be valuable to its owner. While this is certainly true, we look at value a little differently here at TechGearLab. For us, value is when a product delivers a performance that outstrips is peers but cost approximately the same amount. Another way to come at this concept is to say that a product has value because it performs similarly to its peers, but costs less. Judging the Hamilton Beach by this standard, we think that is a fantastic value. One simply gets a high level of performance for very little money invested.

For multiple uses and multiple users, one can't do better than the Hamilton Beach 41020. This kettle has several features that have practical applications for regular and continual use. First off, it boils water in a snap. It will hold that boil — or any other of six preset temps — indefinitely, and it has a large capacity. Moreover, the model is quite affordable. If you have multiple users in mind, look no further than the 41020.
