Eufy HomeVac Lightweight Review
Our Verdict
Our Analysis and Test Results
The lightweight and quiet Eufy HomeVac has one of the longest runtimes out of the models we tested, but falls a little short when it came to cleaning performance.
Convenience
The Eufy doesn't have any way to easily clean non-floor surfaces, earning it the lowest score of the bunch for this metric. It can't transform into a handheld model and includes no attachments for cleaning non-floor areas. It's about average in terms of weight, measuring in at 5.5 lbs, putting it squarely in the middle of the group.
This cordless model did distinguish itself by having one of the longest runtimes at full power of the entire group. It lasted for over 26 minutes.
Unfortunately, this does mean that it takes decently long to charge, only completely recharging after 5.5 hours in our test. This vacuum can stand up on its own or be stored with the included wall mount.
Hard Surface Cleaning
This vacuum did an average job at collecting oats, only taking about 1.5 passes to collect everything and only flinging a few oats to the side. It also did a decent job at collecting flour from the hardwood floor, doing a great job at getting flour off the surface of the boards but struggling to extract it from the cracks between boards.
This model delivered an abysmal performance in our cereal collection and rice collection evaluations. This vacuum created a mild disaster when collecting the rice, flinging them around — even when using the low power mode. When it came to collecting Cheerios, this model simply pushed them around, rather than actually collecting them and it was quite difficult to maneuver the vacuum to get it to collect any of them at all. However, the Eufy finished out this test with an alright showing when it came to collecting pet hair, though it did tend to accumulate hair on the brush roll that needed periodic removal.
Ease of Use
This model features a high and low power cleaning mode, but unfortunately, there is no option to turn off the rotating brush head — a feature that proved particularly problematic in our prior cleaning test, resulting in the explosion of rice. The Eufy also did quite well at cleaning along the edge of the room, even without any dedicated attachment.
It didn't do as well at cleaning under furniture, only reaching about 9.75" under our simulated sofa — a stark comparison to the 37.5" of the top models.
This model is one of the quietest models of the entire group.
This model included no additional accessories and has swivel steering, but it is somewhat limited.
Carpet Cleaning
This model did a great job at cleaning up the rice, doing an average job on the flat carpet and an excellent one on the fluffier carpet, matching the Dyson V8. However, it did relatively poorly at collecting flour, earning one of the lowest scores of the bunch.
This vacuum did do a decent job at collecting Cheerios, though it did leave some residual crushed cereal dust after it had finished. It also would push them around a bit, but would eventually collect the vast majority. It also did quite well at collecting oats, getting all of the debris in 2-4 passes, rivaling the performance of the Black+Decker. It did an alright job at collecting pet hair, though the hair would tend to accumulate on the brush roll and needed to be cleaned periodically, similar to hard floors.
Value
The Eufy is an average stick vacuum at an average price — not a great value if it's not on sale, but definitely not really overpriced.
Conclusion
The Eufy HomeVac Lightweight is an alright stick vacuum, but wasn't one of our favorites. The lack of versatility at cleaning non-floor areas really sets it back, but if you want a simple stick vacuum for light cleanup on carpets and you can find it on sale, then the Eufy would be a decent choice. Otherwise, there are definitely other products out there that would better serve your needs.
