Our Verdict

We found several features that we love while assessing the TaoTronics TT-HE003 such as its easily readable remote, digital display, various settings, and how quickly it heats a small space. That said, it doesn't do as well in larger areas, mostly because of its weaker fan. It's also not the most efficient space heater that we've gotten our hands on.

Our Analysis and Test Results

We were impressed by the TaoTronics TT-HE003's performance in the majority of our assessments. We are fans of the several features that add to its overall convenience, and it did reasonably well in our small room temperature increase experiment. However, it isn't the best choice for larger spaces or if you're trying to keep your power bill as low as possible.

During our assessment, the strongest metric for the TaoTronics TT-HE003 was convenience. The timer on this device uses 1-hour increments and can be set for up to 12 hours. It can be set to temperatures beginning at 41º or turned all the way up to 95º in one-degree increments. The numbers on the TaoTronics TT-HE003 are large and easy to read.

Not only does this model have a digital temperature selection display on the unit itself, but it also has a remote control. The controls on the heater and the remote have matching symbols that are intuitive and easy to understand.

We ran each space heater in a 161 square foot room with a starting temperature of 66.3 degrees and checked the temperatures with a laboratory-grade thermometer in 20-minute intervals. The TaoTronics TT-HE003 showed some impressive results during this experiment.

During the first 20 minute period, the TT-HE003 was able to raise the room temperature by a remarkable 7.9 degrees. In the following 40 minutes, the room's heat increased by another 1.8 degrees for a total of 10.7 degrees over the full hour.

Dislikes

We used each space heater underneath a desk and across the room while sitting in a recliner. Although we were impressed with how fast the TT-HE003 was able to heat up under the desk, this model wasn't nearly as effective when we moved to the other side of the room. Unfortunately, the fan isn't that powerful, so it doesn't push warm air very far.

We measured the power usage of each space heater with a wattmeter. We were then able to extrapolate the cost of running them using the average nationwide kilowatt per hour price. Although the TT-HE003 wasn't the worst performing model for this metric, it most certainly wasn't the best.

Value

Considering that the TaoTronics TT-HE003 has a somewhat high cost for just above-average performance, we'd say it's a great deal if it's on sale, but if not, there are better bargains to be had.

Conclusion

The TT-HE003 has some attractive features that add to its convenience and ease of use. We love how fast this device is able to raise the temperature in a small space. However, it isn't the best for larger spaces and it's a bit inefficient.
