Our Verdict

In nearly all of our assessments, the Lasko Ceramic Adjustable Thermostat space heater came up quite a bit short of its high-performance adversaries. While this model is fairly efficient as far as average operating cost for a home appliance, it doesn't do a very good job of much else. If all you're looking for is a bare-bones heater, this one might make sense; otherwise, we'd recommend going with a model that offers more features or at least does a better job of raising the temperature in a room.

Our Analysis and Test Results

There isn't much to write home about regarding the Lasko Ceramic Adjustable. This space heater doesn't have anything special about it — it heats the air up a bit but is seriously lacking in any sort of exceptional features or functions.

Personal Heat

If cubic footage is limited in your house or workspace, the Lasko Adjustable might be the way to go. It has a tiny footprint and is short. It does a good job of heating very small areas such as under a desk, but the air doesn't get distributed very evenly. One great feature that it has is a setting that turns the fan on without engaging the heating element; in turn, it can be useful during hot summer months as well as the cold ones.

Convenience

This Lasko model doesn't have an oscillation option — a setting that improves the overall performance. It's also lacking a remote control and a digital thermostat. The temperature setting is just a guess on this model.

Small Room Heating

The Lasko Adustable's heating capabilities didn't exhibit much in the way of performance during our heating time trials in a small room. After being left in a 161 square foot room on its highest setting for an hour, it could only bring the temperature up from 64.7 degrees Fahrenheit to 73 degrees for a total of 8.3 degrees. This is a much smaller change than the best space heaters models in our review were able to achieve. We found it didn't do a great job of heating up the space near the recliner — from five feet away — and it did not earn a score above average for heating performance.

Power Consumption

The aspect in which the Lasko stands out is its low power consumption. To test efficiency, we used an in-line wattmeter and ran each space heater at full blast for two hours. Using the national average cost of kilowatts per hour at the time of this review, we calculated the amount of money that this heater burns up in 10 hours. It costs $1.67 to run at its highest setting over 10 hours, making it one of the most affordable in our fleet. It will cost you $50.10 to run for 10 hours a day over 30 days.

Should You Buy the Lasko Ceramic Adjustable Thermostat?

The Lasko Adjustable is not our first recommendation in our fleet, but it is a reasonably priced option that provides average heating capabilities. If you're shopping on a budget, this might be one to consider.

What Other Space Heaters Should You Consider?

This Lasko model is very affordable; however, with the low price comes a low level of performance. We've tested other space heaters comparable in size and price that offer superior heating capabilities, such as the award-winning Amazon Basics 1500W.
